This study mainly explores the function of pineapple leaves in purifying ambient air and reducing PM2.5 concentration and physical particles. In order to understand the adsorption capacity of pineapple, we first measured the dust-holding ability of pineapple and found that it ranked second among indoor plants in dust-holding capacity. Secondly, we measured whether the plant could reduce the concentration of incense particles and found that its leaves have the ability to reduce suspended particles, showing that it has an air purifying effect. We suggested that the above-mentioned ability should be related to the trichome structure. Therefore, we measured the adsorption capacity after hair removal, and concluded that trichomes are the key to the adsorption capacity. Then we learned how to operate Image J to further understand the absorption capacity and transportation routes of air pineapple in various parts. Through digital image analysis, it is inferred that the path of the particles is leaf base → leaf middle → leaf tip. Finally, the antioxidant capacity of the plants after adsorbing particles was compared with that of the control group, and it was found that the experimental group was significantly reduced, indicating that particles would cause oxidative stress to Tillandsia and affect physiological metabolism.
